I stayed in Manhattan on my recent trip to New York. I was about 3 blocks away from Central Park and the hotel was perfect. Staying in Midtown was beneficial because its central to everything and you can catch a subway from every corner.
Central Park is beautiful and definitely worth the hype. It’s huge and within my short time walking around I saw about 3 brides taking pictures and 1 getting proposed too. Romance is for sure in the air there. On the upper east side, I noticed the town homes each had their own character outside. I love vibrant colored doors and the attention to detail. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located as well on the upper east side and is a must see for every tourist. They had a house replica installation from the movie Psycho during my visit and each month feature new art on the roof.
I took a guided city tour at night and it took me around the town for about 4 hours. It was nice because it was 3 hours on the bus and it drops you off at certain places to explore and the last hour on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. My favorite places I visited was- Grand Central Station, Chelsea Market and the High Line. The Chelsea Market has so many food options and little shopping stores. Definitely a great place to visit if its raining in New York. (More details on eateries I tried on my food post for New York) The tour was really informative and saved time because it took me everywhere and was all included. If you are visiting for the first time I would recommend it.
To end my trip to New York, I had the chance to see Hamilton. I had high expectations because everyone and their grandma has praised this musical and tickets cost a pretty penny. I never heard the soundtrack before and knew little about the story but WOW was I amazed. It was the best musical I have seen and the songs are so catchy. The stage wasn’t decorated all over the top, it only was one setup the whole time which gave primary focus on the actors and music. I know Hamilton is coming to Los Angeles in the summer of 2017 and I would see it again.
Manhattan has so much to see, you can’t squeeze everything into one visit. The next time I visit I’ll incorporate new places I saw and do a part two. During Spring I heard is a great time because of the flowers blooming and weather so I will most likely come back for another adventure during that season.
